Flares fired after yacht runs aground

Rescuers were alerted by red flares to a yacht run around on rocks at Aberdeen.

RNLI volunteers at Stonehaven Lifeboat Station were contacted by Aberdeen Coastguard one evening in December 2017 after reports of a vessel in trouble and red flares.

The boat was stuck on rocks after being caught on receding tides and suffered rudder damage.

The rescuers took the skipper aboard and recovered the boat in the evening, when tides allowed.
